History Of Cosmetic Surgery

plastic surgery in WWIIPlastic and cosmetic surgery dates back to around 800 BC. Indeed, rhinoplasty was first performed centuries ago to restore the noses of the people living in India about 2000 years ago. However, the name plastic surgery did not gain any recognition until the 20th century when this kind of surgical procedure was used to correct physical deformities caused by war. On the other hand, the counterpart of plastic surgery, cosmetic surgery is a surgical method wherein a typical and perfectly shaped body still undergoes reshaping and enhancing, as per request by the patient.

Surgeons realized that aside from correcting deformities and abnormalities, they could also perform beauty-enhancing operations. They developed other body enhancement surgical procedures, such as breast augmentation, liposuction, tummy tucks, and facial surgeries, such as the nose job. Rhinoplasty is considered to be one of the most frequently performed cosmetic surgery procedure today.

Cosmetic surgery is different to reconstructive surgery. Reconstructive surgery is the correction of congenital defects, developmental abnormalities, traumas, or even the after effect of disease (e.g.,. breast reconstruction following a mastectomy, surgery to repair cleft palates, and even the removal of birthmark. Cosmetic surgery, on the other hand, is more about the enhancement and improvement of ones look for the purpose of looking beautiful - such as a nose job, breast augmentation, or liposuction.

Almost any part of the body can be enhanced by undergoing cosmetic surgery. In its early days, cosmetic surgery was only available to the wealthy and elite, and these surgical procedures were considered taboo. However, nowadays, anyone who can afford one of these surgical procedures, can access a cosmetic surgeon. The increasing popularity of cosmetic surgery is due to increasing social pressures for people to look better and improve their physical appearance. A rhinoplasty, or nose job, is popular among those who wish to enhance the shape of their nose and improve its functionality. Rhinoplasty costs have decreased in recent years as the operation has become more popular, and is now more affordable than ever. You may even be able to qualify for some assistance from your private health fund with part of the cost if the surgery is deemed to have a structural repair component.

  1. Hi there. With rhinoplasty it is possible to create dramatic changes not only on one's face but also by raising one's level of confident. If one’s shape of the nose is not proportionate according to his/her face, then the entire face looks awkward as well as giving expression, which is very noticeable.
